Our associate Zerina Bosović attended a webinar titled “AML for Lawyers: The New EU AML Package & Practical Advice,” organized by the European Lawyers Foundation and CCBE.

The webinar shed light on the recent provisional agreement reached between the European Council and Parliament on certain aspects of the anti-money laundering (AML) package. Notably, the new package will streamline regulations by transferring all rules applicable to the private sector into a new regulation, while directives will focus on organizing institutional AML/CFT systems at the national level within member states.

Key presentations at the webinar covered practical advice tailored for law firms and sole practitioners on complying with AML obligations, and the application of legal professional privilege in the context of AML obligations.

Given the prevalence of anti-money laundering topics in Montenegro, coupled with the enactment of the new Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing from December 2023, this webinar offered invaluable insights.
